From our previous blog, it has been established that study abroad is a well-versed alternative to pursue a feathered career. But is it an option available for everybody? Let us have a detailed look at the option available that those who can really go to study abroad. Getting studies abroad depends on three main factors, curriculum, entrance exam scores, and financial background.
The curriculum of education abroad seeking candidates needs to be well planned. The term curriculum, in this case, includes curricular activities like regular exams, vivas, presentations, etc, co-curriculum activities like participation in the competitions, MTS, NTS, scholarship exam, mathex, Olympiad, etc and extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, drawing, sports, etc. If a student is very good in his regular school or college exams but is not good in curricular or extracurricular activities, it might be difficult for him/her to get admitted to a good university. This is because a good university look for good students and good students does not mean just good at studies. They should be good in overall performance.
An entrance exam is another important aspect of the studies abroad seeking candidates. There is a lot of confusion among the students about appearing for these exams. Let us have a look at these exams one by one in brief. The first one is IELTS. The long-term of IELTS is International English Language testing service. This exam is required as a language eligibility test in mostly all the English-speaking countries like UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, etc. In some countries where English is not the first language like Germany, Italy, and some of the European countries, IELTS scores are demanded admission and visa purpose. TOEFL is another exam. Its full form is the Test of English as a Foreign Language. This is also a language eligibility test. But this exam is mostly preferred in USA and some universities in Canada and Germany. GRE is an aptitude test. It is long-form is Graduation Record Examination. This comprises English as well as mathematical aptitude. This exam is required for students who wish to go for post-graduation or Ph.D. SAT means Scholastic Aptitude Test. This is also an aptitude test. This is required for students seeking admission in graduate courses after 12th or diploma. GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. This exam requires verbal, analytical, writing, and mathematical aptitude skills. This is mostly demanded MBA admission in USA and some universities in Canada and Germany. There are many other exams for entry requirements but those are not widely accepted like PTE is accepted in Australia in some universities. Importantly only just qualifying for these exams will not get you admission or scholarships. There are few more parameters to get those.
The very important requirement for getting admission to study abroad is the financial background. This covers the financial status of the sponsor of the candidate. The sponsor should be able to afford the tuition fees and living expenses of the candidates. Most importantly, this thing must be reflected through the financial documents of the sponsor that he is able. Financial docs mostly required are Income Tax returns, bank statements, etc. If own parents are not capable to fulfill the documentation requirement any other person can fill in the show of sponsorship like an uncle, aunt, grandfather, friend, cousin, brother, brother-in-law, etc.
Generally, students can opt for abroad studies after 12th or diploma, after graduation, and after post-graduation. The seeking candidates should fulfill the above criteria simultaneously to get admission at a good institution.
